New York (6-6) has been without running back Rashad Jennings, who suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s Week 2 win over the Ravens.
Jennings is expected to be out for at least a month.
The offense scored its first touchdown of the season with 2:23 remaining when Rashad Allen hit Rashad Grant on a 2-yard touchdown run.
The team also had a big day on special teams when Justin Hunter returned a kickoff 68 yards for a touchdown and a first down.
New Jersey (6/8) has allowed four touchdowns in its last six games and has lost five of its past six.
The victory also kept New York at 3-1 in the division and moves the Jets within one game of the New England Patriots (8-4) for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Buffalo (5-7) had a bye after beating the Steelers in Week 7.
The Bills have lost six straight.
Buffalo is 2-7 on the road.
The game will be broadcast by ESPN.
The Buffalo Bills have not won a game since a 31-17 overtime win over New England in the 2007 season opener.
