Serie A champions Napoli are set to sign the club’s new sporting director Andrea Palazzo, according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 35-year-old Italian is currently with the Italian national team, taking over from Francesco Totti, but has spent the last four years in charge of Milan.
Palazzo’s predecessor, Gianluigi Donnarumma, has been sacked by the Rossoneri, and was forced to resign as coach last week following a poor World Cup qualifying campaign.
The club have made only two additions to their squad this summer, with former Fiorentina, Roma and AC Milan striker Alessandro Del Piero having joined on loan from Serie B side Genoa.
Palzzo will now be tasked with replacing former coach Paolo Maldini, who was sacked by his team-mates at the end of the season after failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
He will be tasked alongside the former coach Antonio Conte to help rebuild the squad, which has lost its top scorer in striker Mario Balotelli to a broken leg.
